    • Residencial Illa Creu Alta, is a promotion of 135 new homes that have contributed to transforming the island where a disused textile factory was located.

    • Roger Orriols, as Architect and Project Manager has been in charge of directing and managing the work with circular and sustainable design criteria.
On June 5, the Catalan Association of Project Manager announced the finalists of the first edition of the Award for Best Integrated Project Management. Roger Orriols, as a finalist, will have the opportunity to defend his project on June 15 at the Sala Mirador of the College of Architects of Catalonia, Plaça Nova 5, 8th floor, Barcelona.
The project stands out for the innovation at the level of circular and sustainable design where 8,500 m2 of roof and 50,000 m3 of volume of industrial buildings wered emolished without displacing any truck with ruins. An on-site recycling and crushing plant was set up and 1,860 m3 of rubble were reused as base material for the new construction of the houses and urbanization of the square and rambla. This reuse of materials meant a saving of 14.92 tons of CO2 , and 211,945 MJ of embedded energy, and a substantial improvement in the environmental quality of the air.
Additionally, an A energy certification was achieved in the 3 phases, thanks to a grey water reuse system, the use of materials with low environmental impact and free of Volatile Organic Components (VOCs), and the use of prefabricated construction systems.
As a matter of environmental, social and economic sustainability, the principles of proximity and encouragement of the local economy were opted for, with 90% of local staff hired on site.
