ROA Arquitectura Showcases Its Flagship Projects at Expo Real 2025

ROA Arquitectura is participating in Expo Real 2025 under the Barcelona Catalonia umbrella. The real estate fair, held in Munich from October 6 to 8, is a key meeting point for the international property sector. Four projects stand out for their contribution to urban regeneration and sustainability.

Four initiatives led by ROA Arquitectura — Illa Creu Alta, Jean Piaget, Cunit, and the Renaturalization of Northern Sabadell — were presented at the international Expo Real 2025 fair as examples of urban transformation based on circular economy principles and energy efficiency.

In Illa Creu Alta, a former industrial warehouse is being transformed into 131 private homes, 32 public housing units, five retail spaces, underground parking, a public square, and a promenade. The project includes an on-site recycling plant that reused 1,860 m³ of rubble, avoiding 305 truck trips and reducing CO₂ emissions by 14.92 tons. Low-impact materials and greywater reuse systems are also employed, with 90% of the workforce coming from the local area.

The Jean Piaget building, the future headquarters of the Office for Associations and Volunteering, will be the municipality’s first nearly zero-energy (nZEB) public facility. Through the use of geothermal and aerothermal systems, Canadian wells, solar chimneys, and green walls, it achieves a 66% energy saving, preventing the emission of 96 tons of CO₂.

In Cunit, the rehabilitation of the municipal cultural center redefines the relationship between architecture and the community. The new design introduces a monumental entrance, an underground theater, and a multi-purpose hall with natural light, optimizing both functionality and efficiency. Thanks to passive design strategies and renewable energy, the project achieves a 30% reduction in CO₂ emissions and a 25% decrease in water consumption, earning a four-leaf GBCe certification.

Finally, the Renaturalization of Northern Sabadell reconnects the neighborhoods of Ca n’Oriac and Can Puiggener with the Ripoll River, creating 4,000 m² of green spaces, sustainable housing, office areas, and a photovoltaic canopy that promotes clean energy and electric mobility.

Through these projects, ROA Arquitectura reaffirms its commitment to a regenerative, circular, and positive-impact model of urbanism and architecture — positioning itself as a benchmark for sustainability in Catalonia and across Europe.
