38 NEW HOMES COMPLETED
- ROA Arquitectura has completed the second phase of the Illa Creu Alta residential project of 38 new homes and expects to start the execution of the third phase during 2024.
- The project becomes a model for circular design and sustainability by setting up an on-site recycling plant to reuse the rubble that came from the industrial factory that occupied the island.
ROA Arquitectura completes the second phase of Group Ribé Illa Creu Alta, located in the north of the city of Sabadell in collaboration with Campdomus. This second phase achieves the completion of 66% of the total residential project.
The project started by setting up an on-site recycling and crushing plant where 1,860 m3 of rubble from the industrial warehouse were reused as the base material for the new construction of the homes and urbanization of the square and promenade. This reuse of materials resulted in savings of 14.92 tonnes of CO2 and 211,945 MJ of embedded energy, and a substantial improvement in the environmental quality of the surroundings as a result of the savings in the movement of more than 230 trucks.
Additionally, an A energy certification has been achieved in the 3 phases, thanks to a greywater reuse system, the use of materials with low environmental impact and free of Volatile Organic Components (VOCs), and the use of prefabricated construction systems.
As a matter of environmental, social and economic sustainability, the principles of proximity and incentives of the local economy were committed, and 90% of the staff hired on site were local.
