What is the simplest thing that represents the historical evolution of the city of Dubai?
Water, like no other symbol, represents a city’s quest for a source of life and a shield from the barren desert. Even more relevant today, when water is brought inland and land conquers the sea in the Emirates Hills and the Trilogy Palm Islands, while in the near future “The World” project will only enrich further the exchange of land and sea.
The essence of life in Dubai is generated by the tension of dual forces, land and sea, colliding with each other and bespattering our Rain Drop in the Za’abeel Park. A drop of water not only encapsulates the fleeting growth of the new capital of the middle east but also crystallizes into the future story of the city.
From water to a rain drop, from a rain drop to a crystal water and from a crystal water to a hexagon. This natural and abstract sequence is used to structure the program so as to model and geometrize objects in space.
